On our first night we watched the video Including Samuel. This video was from a parent's perspective, which I must admit is a side that I haven't put too much thought to. A quote from the video was along the lines of "I just want my sons to go to the same school." This seems like such an obvious right, and hearing it has made me realize with even more certainity, every student has the right to be in our schools and in our classroom. While watching the video, all I kept thinking is what would I do if my child had a disabilty? For sure I would be an advocate like the Habib's.
There was a lot of technolgoy during the video; while watching I was impressed but now not sure how much I can remember!
a wheelchair that was battery operated
a tabaggon that was modified for an adult to go behind him in
physed class equipment modified for obstacle course, with a scoop for his stability
a walker to allow him to participate in physed
a bike
chair with safety belt for in class
computers
tray at school low placement for easier access
crayon that was large for his hand to hold
bed that was low to the ground
exercise mats in the home for therapy sessions
